College Admission Questions

 

It is imperative when you are searching for that perfect college to explore every avenue of every school that remotely sparks your interest.  College admission questions play a vital role in deciding on the school in which you will spend your college years.

There are a number of routine questions to be answered before you make your choice.  These questions are not necessarily to be answered by college representatives.  If your questions is routine from which to obtain your information.  A college representative or an intervidwere is likely to be bored or bothered by run-of-the-mill questions.  You need to make a lasting and striking first impression when it comes time to ask your college admission questions.

Some of the avoidable questions may include:

  • What are the deadlines on your applications and admissions?
  • What kind of financial aid is offered?
  • What are the tour dates at your college?
  • What types of classes or activities do you offer outside the regular curriculums?
  • What is the number of students you have at the college?
  • How many people are there in each class?
  • Are the classes large or small?

None of these questions are “bad” questions.  However, most if not all of these questions can be answered online if you research the colleges or universities you may be interested in.  Asking these easily answered questions may lead the college representative or interviewer to believe that you haven’t done any prior researching or you would have known this information.  Many frequently asked questions (FAQs) appear on the college website or college brochures and are easily accessible.

What you need to do is to intrigue the admissions officer or college representative by asking selected and unique questions.  Ask questions that will wow the interviewer and let them know that you are worth taking a second look at.  Some questions you might consider asking include the following:

  • What is it about this school that makes it stand out from other universities and colleges?
  • What does it take to be successful here at your college?
  • How should I prepare for my journey through your world here at _____ college?
  • I’m sure that some students didn’t meet your expectations—what is the reason?  What exactly are you looking for in a student?
  • What is your college’s primary goal in education of your students?
  • Has your enrollment status changed over the past few years?

When you ask these important college admission questions, be certain to lend a special ear to the interviewer’s response.  This will be key in deciding whether this is the college or university where you want to spend your college years.
